Understanding TPL-007-1 Standard and GMD Benchmark.
In a nutshell, a comprehensive risk assessment must be performed based on the GMD benchmark scenario defined in TPL-007-1. Deficiencies identified in the analysis must be addressed with a Corrective Action Plan. The storm severity, defined as the magnitude of the geoelectric field in Volts/km, is tailored to the ground conductivity structure and geomagnetic latitude of the applicable entity. The geographic footprint of the power system under study defines the parameters “alpha” and “beta” that determine the aforementioned magnitude of the geoelectric field.
Is the standard difficult to follow?
The flow diagram illustrates the sequence of requirements R1 through R7 in TPL-007-1 and the applicable functional entities.
